a) Outside the boundaries of the course.
b) The clubhouse enclosure, car park and practice grounds.
c) Beyond the inside points at ground level of the white stakes indicating course boundary.
Penalty areas are defined by yellow or red stakes or lines.
An additional relief option is available for one penalty stroke in red penalty area on the
12th hole only. The player may drop on either side of the penalty area.
Stakes defining penalty areas, readily moved course furniture and direction posts are movable obstructions.
Artificially surfaced pathways, pump house, course toilets, fort, embedded distance markers, winter teeing mats, permanently sited course furniture, drinking fountains, wooden sleepers when not in a penalty area and bridge walls at the 2nd, 5th and 13th tees.
When a ball lies within 2 club lengths of the green and a sprinkler head is on the player's line of play, the player may take relief under Rule 16.1b.
All tee-boxes are an integral part of the course and the ball must be played as it lies. The green carpeted area at the pump house between the 4th tee and the 16th fairway is an integral part of the course from which free relief is not permitted.
